John Banovich - The Long Drink (SOLD OUT)

Limited Edition Giclée Canvas
Gallery Edition- 14" x 11": 350 s/n plus 35 Artist Proofs SOLD OUT

This painting depicts a giraffe bent in an awkward position with its feet spread apart and head down drinking from a pool of water. This position leaves the giraffe extremely vulnerable to predators. The giraffe is able to whip its head up and down because the veins in its neck are equipped with special valves which keep it from getting dizzy. Its heart weighs 40 times more than a human's and pumps ten times as much blood. Although its neck is over seven feet long, it only has seven bones, the same as humans or even mice, but each bone is up to one foot long
