"I was honored to create a special painting for Her Majesty, the Queen of Bhutan, in gratitude for her royal patronage of the first International Tiger Summit in Bhutan, at the request of the International Tiger Conservation Coalition. Thrilled to attend as their guest and witness the beauty of Bhutan, I presented ‘TAK’ to Her Majesty at the opening ceremony. Now, through the limited edition release of this print, we are raising funds to support tiger conservation efforts, marking a historic moment. We are privileged to be at the forefront of a ten-year collaborative journey aimed at securing sustainable financing for the conservation of tiger landscapes."

Building on the momentum of the Sustainable Finance for Tiger Landscapes Conference held in Bhutan this May, and in honor of Her Majesty the Queen of Bhutan's dedication to conservation, Banovich Art is proud to announce the release of a limited edition Giclée of the painting gifted to Her Majesty by John Banovich. Don’t miss this exclusive Giclée release for the Tiger Conservation Coalition on Global Tiger Day, July 29, 2024.
“TAK” - Inspired by the Buddhist concept of the Four Dignities, I delve into the profound themes of wisdom and compassion. Just as I guide my children through life's lessons, I aim to mirror the qualities of each dignity within my artwork. Through the Tiger, symbolizing contentment and discernment, I emphasize the importance of mindfulness and empathy in our daily lives. The discovery of contentment leads to the impetus of one making a leap into the world to be of benefit to others. By infusing my art with these values, I hope to convey the significance of cultivating compassion and wisdom. As we slow down and consider our thoughts, words, and actions with the question, “Will this bring happiness or pain?”, we become like tigers who carefully observe the landscape before making their move.
As an artist, I find myself captivated by the challenge of capturing not just the physicality, but the calmness exuded by the tiger. In this Painting for Her Majesty, I chose a very simplified palette of sepia, to reveal the beauty and essence of the Tiger. In its eyes, I see the embodiment of serenity, strength, and compassion over hostility - a testament to the power of inner peace, and to the timeless power of art to inspire, uplift, and unite across cultures and spiritual traditions. - John Banovich- April 2024
The Spark of a Global Movement
In April 2024, a landmark event unfolded in the heart of Bhutan—the Sustainable Finance for Tiger Landscapes Conference. This pivotal gathering marked the first time that various coalitions united under a single cause: to forge strategies for the preservation of the planet's precious tiger habitats. This collaborative effort set out to address the challenges faced by tigers across Asia, aiming to ensure their survival and recovery in an era of environmental and societal shifts.
A Gift of Legacy and Conservation
Amid the historic discussions, renowned artist and fervent conservationist, John Banovich, stepped forward with a profound contribution. In a gesture of solidarity and support, Banovich presented the Queen of Bhutan with the original oil painting "Tak." This artwork, embodying the spirit of tiger conservation, symbolized a commitment to the cause and ignited a beacon of hope for the future.
