The Mountain Gorilla is one of the rarest primates on the planet. Only discovered in 1902 and miraculously none are found in captivity today. They live in an extremely mountainous area of the Virunga volcanoes region, straddling the countries of Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. But the exciting news is the most recent population study shows they have grown significantly in numbers to 1,069. Unheard of for such a large creature living in small islands of habitat in a sea of humanity. Perspicacious is defined as having keen insight and understanding and having spent nearly 20 years studying this gentle giant I am convinced they are aware of their invisible prison.
