How to even imagine it was a deep-dive into my imagination – capturing that intense moment just before a possible encounter when things could go either way for you or the elephant. Thankfully in my career as a professional hunter I never had to deal with this kind of situation and this dynamic and energetic pose was a challenge, but I’m really pleased with the result and hope you enjoy it too.

John Tolmay

Born in Southern Rhodesia in 1943, John Tolmay grew up immersed in the African bush, where an early fascination with wildlife and nature inspired him to begin drawing his observations.
