It holds true for me that the Cape Buffalo is easily the most impressive of all the African species. I let my mind go here and decided that I would put the egrets into the piece and allow the patina applied on the birds to enhance the whole scene by their brightness. I took my time with this piece and was never bored even for a moment although of course I had my usual internal squabble with myself as I worked through it to achieve the level of perfection that I wanted. After agricultural college in South Africa, he traveled to Europe and the United States, working as a cowboy in Nebraska and New Mexico before returning to Rhodesia in 1966 to ranch.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eTolmay began guiding African hunting safaris in 1974, an experience that gave him an intimate understanding of wildlife, movement, and anatomy - knowledge that would later become fundamental to his work as a sculptor.
